Probate

Valuations for probate is legally required by HM Revenue and Customs in order to establish the value of a property as part of a deceased person’s estate. The valuation must reflect the current market value at the time of death.

Whether probate is required for a single property or a portfolio of investment properties, our Chartered Valuers understand the complex and detailed laws surrounding the probate process, including the complexity of Inheritance Tax (IHT) for probate purposes and the requirements of HMRC. It is always advisable to appoint a qualified Chartered Surveyor to ensure that the property is not overvalued and unnecessary IHT being paid as a result.

We understand that the circumstances requiring a probate valuation can be extremely difficult, overwhelming and confusing, especially during a time of grief. Our Chartered Valuers will sympathetically but professionally guide you through the valuation process. Please contact us for further information.
